Multan (Urdu: مُلتان) (About this sound elocution (help·info)), is a Pakistani city situated in Punjab area. Multan is Pakistan's fifth most crowded city,[4] and is the chief community for southern Punjab territory. Multan is situated on the banks of the Chenab River, and is at the heart of Pakistan's Seraiki-talking locales.
Multan's history extends back to relic. The antiquated city was site of the eminent Multan Sun Temple, and was attacked by Alexander the Great amid the Mallian Campaign. Multan pulled in a large number of Sufi holy people in the eleventh and twelfth hundreds of years, acquiring the city the epithet City of Saints. The city, alongside the adjacent city of Uch, is eminent for its vast accumulation of Sufi places of worship dating from the medieval period. The city was the origin of Baba Farid, the principal real writer of the Punjabi dialect.
